Getting Started

What is Camoleo?

Camoleo lets you show different versions of your website to different visitors without changing the URL. Perfect for showing relevant content based on where visitors come from (like X, Reddit, or email) or how many times they have visited.

How does it work?

You add a small script to your website, then use the dashboard to create different versions of your pages. Camoleo automatically shows the right version to each visitor based on rules you set up.

Websites

What is a Website?

A website in Camoleo represents your actual website domain. You can have multiple websites in your account if you manage more than one site.

Adding a New Website

Click "Add Website" in the dashboard. Enter your website name and domain (like example.com). After creating it, you will get a script tag that you need to add to your website's HTML, right before the closing </body> tag. This script is what makes Camoleo work on your site.

Installation Script

The installation script is unique to each website. Copy it from the dashboard and paste it into every page of your website where you want Camoleo to work. Without this script, Camoleo cannot show different versions to your visitors.

Pages

What is a Page?

A page is a specific URL on your website (like /pricing or /about). Each page can have multiple versions with different content.

Creating Your First Page

After adding a website and installing the script, click "New Page". Enter the path (like /pricing). Camoleo will scan your page and detect all the text and images. This becomes your default version that everyone sees unless you set up rules.

Page Versions

Each page can have multiple versions. For example, your /pricing page might have one version for visitors from X and another for visitors from Reddit. All versions share the same URL, so your links never break.

Scanning and Updating

When you scan a page, Camoleo reads all the text and images from your live website. If you update your website, click "Scan Page" again to refresh the content in Camoleo.

Content Management

Editing Text

After scanning a page, you will see all detected text in the dashboard. Click on any text to edit it for a specific version. You can change headlines, paragraphs, buttons, or any other text on your page.

AI Transformation

Instead of manually editing each piece of text, you can use AI to transform all content at once. Describe how you want the content to change (like "make it more technical" or "focus on agencies"), and AI will rewrite everything to match that style.

Managing Images

You can also change images for different versions. Upload new images or swap existing ones to match the message you want to send to specific visitors.

Traffic Rules

What are Traffic Rules?

Traffic rules let you show different page versions based on where visitors come from. For example, show one version to visitors from Reddit and another to visitors from X.

Setting Up a Rule

Go to the Traffic Rules tab. Enter the referrer domain (like reddit.com or x.com), select which page this applies to, and choose which version to show. You can add multiple domains separated by commas.

How Rules Work

When someone clicks a link to your site, Camoleo checks where they came from. If it matches a traffic rule, they see that specific version. If not, they see the default version.

Campaign Links Priority

Campaign links (URLs with utm_campaign parameter) always take priority over traffic rules. This means if a visitor clicks a specific link (like from an ad) to view a certain version, that will override any general rule based on where they came from.

Visit Stages

What are Visit Stages?

Visit stages let you show different content based on how many times someone has visited your page. First time visitors might need education, while returning visitors are ready to convert.

Creating a Visit Stage

Go to the Visit Stages tab. Choose which visit number (like visit 1, visit 3, etc.) and which version to show. You can decide if this version should keep showing on future visits or only on that specific visit.

Show Once vs Keep Showing

Show Once means the version only appears on that exact visit number. Keep Showing means it appears on that visit and all future visits. Use this to progressively change your message as visitors become more familiar with your product.

Campaign Links

What are Campaign Links?

Campaign links are special URLs that force a specific version to show, regardless of other rules. They use the utm_campaign parameter.

Creating Campaign Links

In your page settings, each version has a campaign name. To create a campaign link, add ?utm_campaign=CAMPAIGN_NAME to your URL. For example: yoursite.com/pricing?utm_campaign=agency

When to Use Campaigns

Use campaign links for ads, email marketing, or any situation where you want complete control over which version someone sees. They override all other rules, so they are perfect for targeted campaigns.
